The prophet, peace be upon him, said “Spread the greetings of Salam among yourselves.” Gathering for fun and friendship is an important part of the wellbeing of any mosque. Masjid Ibrahim conducts many large community wide events that bring people together to celebrate, collaborate and learn.
Ramadan & Eid Bazaar
After the formal celebration of Eid, Masjid Ibrahim holds an annual bazaar for members to network and enjoy each other’s company. These events typically feature a children’s area with inflatables. You can walk among the many vendors, shopping for food, clothing, jewelry, books and accessories. Local non profits set up booths to reach out to community members, henna artists decorate hands and a social media backdrop is available for selfies.
Knowing your health risks could help you maximize your life. Masjid Ibrahim partners with nurses and local nonprofits to bring you a day of important information. Have your vital signs checked, learn about healthy eating, exercise, diabetes and cancer. Health literacy is an important topic, the more you understand, the better you are able to access health services.
The Christina Watershed provides 75% of the public water supply for residents and businesses in New Castle County. A solid effort is needed annually to keep each of these waterways as free from debris as possible. Volunteers from Masjid Ibrahim participate each year in a trash pick up event held in different locations along the Christina Watershed.
Masjid Ibrahim community members participate in walks to support local non profit organizations. In 2018, members walked in the Best Buddies Friendship Walk. Best Buddies is an organization that pairs up developmentally disabled young people and non-developmentally disabled young people for friendship and activities. The walk is one of their signature events. For more information on Best Buddies, please visit https://www.bestbuddies.org/delaware.
