Upper Oxford Township Zoning Hearing Board Grants

ISD Approval for Cemetery

The second hearing for the ISD application to obtain approval of Special Exception for Cemetery use was held last Tuesday evening, August 16 at the Oxford Area High School. In this final hearing the three members of the Upper Oxford Township Zoning Hearing Board, Alhamdulillah unanimously granted approval of the requested Special Exception to allow Cemetery use for the property in Upper Oxford Township, PA which ISD intends to buy.

However, this approval includes several conditions. Some of which may have considerable financial and other impacts. Prior to buying the property, ISD will carefully review all the conditions and their impacts after receiving the decision in writing.

May Allah  (SWT) reward the entire community for its strong support for this important project.

The Islamic Society of Delaware will be conducting an informative workshop to discuss the importance of having living will. This workshop is open to all community members and requires registration. The registration from is available at Masjid Ibrahim or Online - ISD Living Will Workshop Registration Form

This workshop is free of charge however it requires attendees to register in advance. There is a $20 fee if anyone needs a copy of the living will.

Sheikh Abdel Hadi will be conducting a comprehensive workshop on the Rites and Rituals of the Hajj on Saturday August 13 after Duhur Prayers.  In this information packed workshop, Sheikh will cover the procedures in detail on how to prepare, plan, and perform Hajj. All community members especially those who have intention to perform Hajj are invited to attend the workshop.

Imam Suleiman Hani will be hosting a 4 hour workshop at ISD on Saturday, August 6th from 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM on the topic of Overcoming Modern-day Struggles.

Imam Suleiman Hani is an inspirational religious speaker and youth lecturer from Michigan. Imam Suleiman completed his Qur’an Memorization at the age of 14, and gained his Isamic knowledge through scholars and by completing curriculums of multiple Islamic universities. He has been giving workshops and seminars around the USA, as well as motivational and theological lectures at North American and European conferences. He is  known for his popular one-day seminars, “Paradise & Hellfire”, “How to Memorize the Qur’an”, and “Islam vs. Modern Philosophies.”

The Islamic Society of Delaware would like to invite the community for a general assembly meeting on Saturday, August 6th at 2:00PM. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the expansion of ISD and IAD. ISD has learned about a property adjacent to the Masjid that is up for sale. We would like to discuss the possibility of purchase of this property with the community.

We hope to see many of our community members participate in this important decision about expansion of ISD and IAD.
