Islamic Society of Delaware (ISD) is pleased to announce that Eid-ul-Fitr will be on Wednesday, July 6th. We have made arrangements for the Eid Salat in Bob Carpenter Center located in The University of Delaware.

ISD management humbly request all the community members to adhere to the venue, Bob Carpenter Center policies to make it happy and joyful day.
  • We request all our community members to contribute $5 or more to cover the venue expense.
  • Please bring prayer mats with you.
  • Please arrive early, the front door open at 8:30 AM.
  • The bags will be searched at the entrance, please try to keep all unnecessary items in your car.
  • We request all the early arrivals to proceed all the way to the front rows.
  • Keep your children with you all the times.
  • We will have refreshments in the lobby area after the Eid prayers.
  • Please keep the venue clean, please deposit all the cups, napkins, candy wrapper and trash in the waste baskets.
  • No business soliciting is allowed. Businesses not adhering to this policy will be fined by the venue management.

ISD Annual Ramadan Fundraiser & Community Iftar PDF Print E-mail

Islamic Society of Delaware (ISD) will have its Annual Ramadan Fundraising after Isha Prayers on Friday, July 1st, 2016. The goal for this fundraising is to raise $150,000. It includes $70,000 for supporting the expenses for 6 months (July to December 2016) and the remaining funds will be used for maintenance / renovation projects, which include the following:
  • Conversion of existing old bathroom into a useable Room / Office Room
  • Masjid Entrance Hallway Renovation.
  • Masjid Building Exterior Maintenance.
  • Repair of concrete area in front of the Masjid entrance.
Please note that ISD remains committed to fiscal responsibility in all our operations, and any funds saved from reduction in regular expenses will be made available for the projects too.

Sunday July 3rd - 29th Night of Ramadan


Khatm al Quran is one of the most attended nights during the month of Ramadan and therefore the ISD management truly appreciate your cooperation regarding the following announcements:

  • Due to an expected high turnout, please plan to arrive early and car pool as much as possible
  • All parking spots closest to the Masjid enterance will be dedicated to senior community members, kindly do not park in these spots.
  • Please take care of your children. Baby sitters are available during Taraweeh.

May Allah SWT reward Br. Akhtar Mahmood and his family for their continues support for the Masjid and providing sweets on Khatam al Quran night for many years.

Delaware Gov. Jack Markell Hosted 2nd Iftar Dinner PDF Print E-mail

On June 22, 2016 Delaware Gov. Jack Markell hosted Iftar dinner for Delaware Muslims. In addition to about 25 – 30 guests representing DE Islamic Organizations (Masajids), US Senators Chis Coons, Tom Carper and State Senator Bryan Townsend also participated in the Iftar. As the largest Muslim organization, The Islamic Society of Delaware was represented by six community members.


During his remarks, Gov. Markell emphasized on the importance of inclusion of all communities in the State of Delaware. He further expressed his desire that his successor would continue this tradition.

After the Iftar State Senator Bryan Townsend presented a resolution passed by the House and the Senate recognizing Muslim Eid holidays in the State of Delaware. The resolution was signed the presence of Delaware Muslim community leaders and members.
